Zenith Bank stepped up in style, donating a whopping N200 million to the victorious squad. The generous reward was presented by the bank’s Group Managing Director, Dame Adaora Umeoji, during a celebratory reception in Abuja.
The breakdown? Each player on the winning team will receive N10 million. As for the coaching staff and other support personnel, they’ll be sharing the remaining pot. Clearly, it’s not just the scoreboard that’s lighting up—bank accounts are getting a little boost too.
This corporate gift comes shortly after the federal government gave its own round of applause—with benefits. President Bola Tinubu honored the athletes with $100,000 each, while the coaches and technical team received $50,000 apiece. But wait, there’s more: all members of the squad, including staff, were also given a home in the Renewed Hope Estate. If that doesn’t say “job well done,” nothing does.
And just when the list of rewards seemed complete, the icing on the cake came in the form of a national honor. Each player and member of the technical team was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON)—a prestigious recognition that cements their legacy in Nigerian sports history.
