Wale Davies Points Out the Real Struggle of Talented Artists
Talent may open doors, but one wrong move can slam them shut just as quickly. According to rapper Wale Davies, better known as Tec from Show Dem Camp, brilliance alone isn’t enough—it’s the choices behind the scenes that make or break careers.
In a recent conversation on the Overnight Success podcast, Tec explained that decision-making often becomes the toughest challenge for gifted individuals. Whether it’s picking a manager who turns out untrustworthy, rushing into a record deal, or surrounding oneself with the wrong team, he argued these choices can derail even the most promising paths.
“The biggest hindrance for talented people is decision-making. Sometimes it’s the manager you chose who mishandles your money, or that record label contract you signed too soon,” he remarked candidly.
The rapper highlighted that beyond talent and creativity, wisdom in selecting the right partners is critical. Surrounding oneself with a supportive and capable team, he stressed, is what helps an artist avoid falling into traps that come with poor judgment. For Tec, talent is only half the battle—the other half lies in carefully steering one’s career with thoughtful decisions.
