Social media provocateur VeryDarkMan didn’t hold back as he took aim at Nigerian music giants Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid for splurging on multi-billion-naira luxury cars while the country grapples with economic challenges.

The drama unfolded shortly after Burna Boy made headlines as the first person in Africa to own the brand-new McLaren Sienna, a flashy ride worth a staggering N3.5 billion. Not to be outdone, Davido reportedly snagged a 2026 Mercedes Maybach SL 680 valued at N1.2 billion just hours later. Meanwhile, Wizkid had already stirred the pot months earlier with his reported purchase of a N1.7 billion luxury vehicle.

In a viral Instagram video, VeryDarkMan, who counts himself among Davido’s circle, slammed the trio for their apparent insensitivity to the struggles faced by everyday Nigerians, especially their fans and local communities.

“Yesterday, I saw Burna Boy bought a N3.5 billion car, and Davido also dropped over a billion on a new ride. This isn’t new, they’ve been doing this,” he said.

“But here’s my question to Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido—don’t you guys ever read the room? Are you even aware of the state of the country you come from? I know you’re not the government, but I have to ask. Davido, since you’re my guy, what can you proudly say you’ve done for the people of Osun State, your hometown? What meaningful contribution have you made to Nigeria’s growth? You’ve gained so much from this country and your fans, but what have your fans gained from you? The last time I saw you in Osun was during your uncle’s gubernatorial campaign when you were rallying votes. Since then, what have you built that benefits the youth?”

VeryDarkMan’s critique has sparked conversations about celebrity responsibility and the balance between flaunting wealth and giving back to the community.
