Tiwa Savage Says She’s Done ‘Dating Down’ and Now Wants a Wealthier Partner
Tiwa Savage is ready to switch up her dating script. The award-winning Nigerian singer admits she’s had her share of romantic missteps, particularly in choosing partners who weren’t more financially secure than she was.
Speaking in a candid conversation with Zeze Mills, the ‘Koroba’ crooner revealed that she’s reached a stage where financial stability is non-negotiable in her love life. She confessed that in the past, she was open to relationships where money wasn’t a factor — but that approach, she says, is no longer on the table.
“I used to make the mistake of dating down, telling myself it was all about love,” she said. “But now, I think I need someone who just has money. I’m at that point. Love is wonderful, but you can judge me if you want — I’d like to be with someone wealthier.”
She explained that this isn’t just about preference but about trying something different. “I’ve experienced the other side for years. Now I want to see what it’s like dating someone who’s financially on another level,” Tiwa added with a hint of playful honesty.
Tiwa Savage was previously married to her former manager, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz. Their 2013 marriage ended in 2018 after failed reconciliation attempts, but it blessed them with a son, Jamil.
With her career soaring and her priorities evolving, Tiwa’s new dating criteria might just be the bold twist her personal life has been waiting for.
