Tacha Claims Most Nigerian Pastors Would Face Consequences Abroad for Their Actions

UK-based Nigerian reality star Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has voiced her concerns about the unruly conduct of some Nigerian pastors. She boldly stated that 90% of Nigerian pastors wouldn’t get away with their behavior if they were outside Nigeria.

Tacha’s comments came in response to the recent controversy involving Senior Pastor Paul Adefarasin of the House on the Rock Church and a car spotter. The pastor faced backlash after a video surfaced showing him holding what appeared to be a pistol-like object while admonishing a car spotter who was filming his vehicle.

Pastor Adefarasin defended himself by insisting the object was not a firearm and denied pointing it at anyone. He also claimed the car spotter was the aggressive party.

However, Tacha, in a video shared on her X account, disagreed with the pastor’s version of events. She insisted the video clearly showed the pastor holding a gun-like object and argued that the car spotter was not aggressive. She accused the pastor of trying to gaslight the public.

“I stayed quiet about the church drama until I saw clips from the latest service because I hate gaslighting,” she said. “Everyone saw the video and can tell who was aggressive. The pastor stopped his car, rolled down his window, held an object resembling a firearm, and told the young man, ‘Don’t do that.’ The boy was even greeting the pastor. What was wrong with what he was doing? How was he aggressive?”

She expressed disappointment at the congregation’s applause, questioning what they were cheering for and accusing them of selective blindness.

Tacha went on, “Let me be clear: 90% of Nigerian pastors would not escape consequences abroad for the kind of Christianity they practice here. Their churches would shut down within a year if they tried this elsewhere.”

She also pointed out the double standards in public reactions, noting that if politicians like Seyi Tinubu or Wike had acted similarly, social media would have erupted for weeks. Yet, because it’s a pastor, some people make excuses.

Highlighting a past incident, she recalled how the same pastor allegedly smashed a bus windscreen after a collision, endangering passengers, yet now labels a content creator as aggressive. “So now anyone holding a phone is aggressive? This selective hypocrisy is outrageous. Let’s stop pretending,” she concluded.
