Simi Demands Action Against Airport Staff Who Shared Passenger’s Private Video

What started as a tense moment on an Ibom Air flight quickly spiraled into a viral controversy, and Nigerian singer Simi isn’t staying silent. She has called for the prosecution of airport personnel who leaked a video showing passenger Comfort Emmanson in a compromising situation.

Through her Instagram story, Simi highlighted the double standard in the incident. While Emmanson faced backlash for her behavior, those who recorded and shared the video without censoring the indecent content appeared to escape accountability. Simi pointed out that the failure to blur or edit the footage violated Emmanson’s privacy and warranted legal consequences.

“Someone recorded her being dragged off the plane, recorded her being exposed like that, and then posted it without editing out this exposure or blurring it out. I personally want to know who posted that video and why no one is holding him/her accountable. Because they will face the law,” she wrote.

She further added, “But voluntarily posting her half-naked for millions of people to see when less than 10 people actually witnessed it in the first place deserves punishment too because you cannot condemn one madness and leave another one.”

The incident unfolded on Ibom Air Flight Q153 after Emmanson reportedly refused to turn off her phone during takeoff, leading to a confrontation with the flight crew and ground staff. The situation escalated, resulting in her removal from the aircraft, and a video of the altercation quickly circulated online.

Simi’s intervention underscores the importance of accountability not just for the individual involved in the incident but also for those who exploit and distribute private moments without consent.
