President Tinubu Urges Wike to Brush Off Critics and Keep Up the Great Work
President Bola Tinubu has lauded Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for his outstanding efforts in revamping Abuja’s infrastructure. Speaking at the grand reopening of the newly renovated International Conference Centre (ICC), now renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, the President encouraged Wike to ignore the naysayers and continue his impressive work.
“You embody the true Nigerian spirit—character, determination, and resilience. I’m proud to see these qualities in you. Don’t pay attention to the busybodies and onlookers; no matter their chatter, keep pushing forward with your excellent work. You are a visionary leader destined for success. Thank you,” Tinubu said on Tuesday, June 10.
The President recalled his earlier disappointment during a previous visit to the ICC for an ECOWAS Parliament meeting. “When I first came here, the place was dirty, chaotic, and frankly unfit for purpose. Aside from chatting with the Senate President, I turned to Wike and asked, ‘Has it come to this? Are we really this low?’ He assured me they would do everything possible to transform the centre. Today, I am thrilled to see the remarkable difference.”
President Tinubu’s words highlight the importance of perseverance and focus amid criticism, celebrating Wike’s role in elevating the nation’s capital.
