Police Nab Infamous Criminal ‘Officer Koi’ After Violent Attack in Ondo State

Chaos erupted in Idanre town, Ondo State, when a violent assault left three residents injured — but this time, the culprits didn’t get far. Thanks to a quick police response, one of the town’s most feared troublemakers finally ran out of luck.
The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the arrest of two armed suspects following the incident. Acting on solid intelligence, officers from the Idanre Division launched a swift operation in the early hours of October 6, 2025, around 7:25 a.m., leading to the capture of the men believed responsible for the attack.
According to the police spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olushola, investigations revealed that one of the suspects — 35-year-old Abimbo Rotimi, infamously known as “Officer Koi” — had long been a menace to the community. A known drug dealer, armed robber, and cultist, Rotimi had allegedly been spreading fear across Idanre and neighboring areas. His partner in crime, identified as 28-year-old Joseph Innocent, was also arrested. Both are residents of Ehinpeti Street, near the White House area of Idanre.
The pair allegedly stormed an Indomie shop owned by a man named Henry (surname withheld) before proceeding to the home of one Abimbola Sunday on the same street. Armed with a locally made pistol, a knife, and other sharp objects, they reportedly attacked the victims during the rampage. Henry was stabbed in the fingers, Abimbola suffered a severe bite wound to her lower lip, and another victim, Akinduko Akinbobola — a commercial motorcyclist — sustained a deep head injury.
Authorities have since recovered the weapons used in the attack and stated that investigations are ongoing. The police assured residents that the suspects would face the full force of the law, adding that their arrest marks a major step toward restoring peace in Idanre.
