Police Nab 15-Year-Old Accused of Serial Robberies in Gombe
Even at 15, some teenagers are figuring out math homework—others, apparently, are figuring out how to rob houses. The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old boy, Abubakar Aliyu, from Tudun Wada Shamaki Quarters, for allegedly carrying out a string of robberies and thefts in the Federal Low-Cost area of Gombe metropolis.
According to reports, his arrest came shortly after a robbery incident was reported on October 15, 2025, prompting officers to swing into action. Their quick response led to the recovery of valuable items including an iPhone 13 Pro Max, an Apple MacBook, and several other stolen goods.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Wednesday, October 22. He described it as a major breakthrough for the force, emphasizing the professionalism and speed of the responding officers.
Abdullahi revealed that the teenage suspect had confessed to robbing a female resident after breaking into her home in the early hours of the morning, wielding a knife. The stolen items reportedly included an iPhone 13 Pro Max worth ₦800,000, a MacBook valued at ₦250,000, an Apple Watch, and a few personal accessories. Thankfully, the police were able to recover all the items in record time.
Further investigations uncovered that this wasn’t the boy’s first rodeo. He admitted to teaming up with an accomplice named Hadi—now on the run—to rob another female victim on October 8, making away with gadgets and jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of naira. Some of those stolen items, including a Samsung Fold 3 and a Tab 80 (Black View), have since been recovered.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, commended the officers for their swift work and reassured residents that efforts were underway to arrest the fugitive accomplice. He also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities that could help maintain security in the state.
For now, the teenage suspect is in custody, while the hunt for his partner in crime continues. It’s a sobering reminder that even in a quiet city like Gombe, crime has no age limit.
