A female pilgrim from Plateau State, Jamila Muhammad, tragically passed away during the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. The Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Daiyabu Dauda, announced the sad news on Monday night.

Ms. Muhammad died at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Makkah while fulfilling her religious duties. Medical professionals attributed her death to complications related to diabetes.

Dauda, who also serves as the Amirul Hajj, expressed profound sorrow over the loss. Upon learning of her condition, he immediately instructed the medical team to give her urgent care, following the directives of Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Several officials and relatives of the deceased attended her funeral prayers at the Grand Mosque, after which she was laid to rest according to Islamic traditions.

The statement read, “From God we come, and to Him we shall return. With heavy hearts and full submission to Allah’s will, Plateau State mourns the loss of Hajiya Jamila Muhammad on Monday, June 2, 2025, at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Makkah due to diabetic complications, as confirmed by doctors.”

It further quoted the Quran, “And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger and then death overtakes him, his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah (Quran 4:100).”
