Controversial hip-hop sensation Tochukwu Ojogwu, better known as Odumodublvck, has fired back at critics of his rap style, insisting their negativity stems from being intimidated by his success.

He boldly declared that his 2023 breakout hit, ‘Declan Rice,’ stands as the most culturally significant Nigerian hip-hop song globally.

The rapper highlighted that Arsenal football club used his track to announce their record-breaking signing of Declan Rice from West Ham in July 2023, and that the song has become the club’s “biggest digital asset” on social media.

During an interview with The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, Odumodublvck said, “When upcoming rappers try to mimic my style, they often get discouraged by the backlash. But I dropped ‘Good Devil Wells White’ with Larry G and delivered a top-tier verse.

“We’ve laid down verses in English, Vernacular, Patois—every language you can think of. Yet, some try to undermine it because they feel threatened. Which rap line can they bring forward that has had more cultural impact than my verse in ‘Cast’? Which Nigerian hip-hop song has made a bigger mark in the last 20 years? In the entire history of Nigerian hip-hop, no track has resonated worldwide like ‘Declan Rice.’ It’s Arsenal’s biggest social media digital asset. Check the facts.

“What metrics are they using? They should show us. Yet, they say I’m not a rapper. That’s nonsense and ungratefulness. And I believe karma will catch up with them.”

Odumodublvck’s confident remarks underscore his belief that his music has redefined Nigerian hip-hop’s global footprint.
