Jarvis Reveals She Was Pushed Into Work Early in Life
Nigerian TikTok star and content creator Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, better known as Jarvis, has opened up about the hardships she faced growing up, sharing how she was essentially pushed into working at a very young age.
The Edo-born influencer recalled taking on various menial jobs just to get by, including a memorable incident when she was robbed while managing a store.
Reflecting on her early experiences, Jarvis suggested that having to shoulder adult responsibilities so young might explain why embracing her femininity sometimes feels challenging.
During a recent TikTok livestream, she said, “I had to grow up fast—maybe that’s why acting like a lady isn’t always easy for me. I was forced to take on adult roles early, working under others and enduring hardships.”
She went on, “I worked as a salesgirl for several employers. I’m sure my former bosses would be proud of who I’ve become. One day, when my madam was away, she left me in charge of the store. I was eager to impress her with good sales, but unfortunately, I got robbed. When she came back, she forgave me after neighbors intervened. She said she’d deduct the stolen goods’ cost from my salary. I can’t quite remember if she actually did.”
Jarvis added, “I loved her for how she handled it—she comforted me and told me not to cry too much. She wasn’t angry, just advised me to be smarter next time. She said people would naturally feel sympathy for me and that I’d earn their love that way.”
Her story sheds light on the resilience forged through early struggles and the complex journey of self-identity.
