Immigration Transfers Enugu Native Doctor Suspect to Police Custody
The Nigeria Immigration Service in Lagos State has handed over a high-profile crime suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation. This was confirmed by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement shared on X on Friday, May 30.
Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, was apprehended on May 29, 2025, by immigration officers at the Gbaji checkpoint on Badagry-Seme Road while attempting to escape the country on a motorcycle.
His arrest came after credible intelligence linked him to kidnapping and alleged ritual killings in Isiagu Community, Enugu State. The Nigeria Immigration Service’s Comptroller General, Kemi Nandap, confirmed the arrest through a statement issued by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi.
The suspect, a native doctor from Umuajor village in Enugu, is wanted by the Enugu State Police Command for his alleged role in abduction, kidnapping, and ritual murder. He is believed to be part of a trio responsible for abducting a 13-year-old girl on May 27, 2025, while she was walking with her father to the farm.
The girl was later rescued from a shrine reportedly connected to Obieze. The immigration officers confirmed his identity through a National Identity Management Commission enrollment slip found in his possession.
Authorities continue their investigations as the suspect remains in police custody.
