Illbliss Warns Nigerians: The Nation Faces Perilous Times
Renowned rapper Tobechukwu Melvin Ejiofor, better known as Illbliss, has sounded the alarm, declaring that Nigeria is navigating through one of the most dangerous chapters in its history.
During a recent episode of the Real Shareholders podcast, Illbliss expressed his worries about escalating insecurity, economic struggles, rampant corruption, and the government’s sophisticated propaganda efforts.
He recounted how his socially conscious track, “Country,” released in 2020, was pulled off the airwaves due to its critical stance on the government. This wasn’t an isolated case, as previous songs like “A Different Kind Of War” and “National Cake” also faced resistance from radio hosts fearful of fines.
“Every time I drop a song, I get bombarded with tweets accusing me of tarnishing the country’s image, saying things aren’t as bad as I portray. It’s clear these are orchestrated digital pushbacks,” Illbliss explained. “Propaganda has evolved beyond traditional media. Now, you find podcasts praising the government’s achievements, with people from our generation proudly endorsing these narratives.”
He went on, “We’re at a critical point where the government is matching the public’s energy online. Social media, once a platform for free expression, has become a battleground of distraction theories and misinformation. It makes you wonder if the government is funding these efforts or if they’ve simply become more advanced in controlling the narrative. Just look around.”
