Heavily Pregnant Woman Tragically Dragged Away by Crocodile After It Invaded Her Home
In a heartbreaking incident in North Kalimantan, Indonesia, a heavily pregnant woman named Munirah, 28, was attacked and k!lled by a crocodile that swam into her flooded home while she was preparing lunch.
Munirah was standing in her waterlogged kitchen on Tuesday, May 27, when the crocodile clamped its jaws onto her leg and dragged her away. Despite her desperate screams and attempts to hold onto a tree branch, the beast managed to pull her into the water.
Her sister, Ana Maria, hearing the cries, rushed to help and ran to find a weapon. However, by the time she returned, the crocodile had already dragged Munirah into the river.
Villagers launched a search along the Mambulu River, with footage showing men firing a shotgun at the predator, which then slipped back into the murky waters. Tragically, about half an hour later, Munirah’s lifeless body was found floating in the flood.
Local police chief AKP Supriadi confirmed, “The victim d!ed after being attacked by a crocodile. She was dragged away from her kitchen and drowned to de@th. She was eight months pregnant and did not have the strength to fight off the crocodile. The crocodile released her, but she was already de@d when her body surfaced.”
The local disaster response agency (BPBD) also verified the incident. Munirah’s home was a stilt house that had been flooded after the nearby Mambulu River overflowed due to heavy rains.
This tragic event highlights the dangers faced by communities living close to nature’s unpredictable forces.
