Turning down one bribe might seem commendable, but refusing over a hundred in just one month? That’s a record that deserves a standing ovation. One officer in Osun State has now become the poster child for integrity within the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

Assistant Route Commander Babatunde Owoeye of the Osun State Sector Command was publicly recognized in August 2025 for his extraordinary commitment to honesty. In July alone, he turned down bribes on 104 separate occasions—each one an attempt by traffic offenders to sway his judgment. This remarkable feat built on his earlier record of rejecting 18 bribes in May and another 38 in June, proving that his principles are not a one-time affair but a lifestyle.

At the official ceremony held at the Osun State Command headquarters, Sector Commander Leye Adegboyega applauded Owoeye’s unwavering stand against corruption. He explained that the officer’s actions were not only personal triumphs but also a reflection of the FRSC’s broader mission to maintain professionalism and integrity within its ranks. Adegboyega highlighted that such behavior reinforces the Corps Marshal’s anti-corruption drive and sets a benchmark for others to emulate.

As a reward for his integrity, Owoeye received a commendation letter along with a cash prize of ₦250,000. Adegboyega described his conduct as “unprecedented,” noting that no officer in the command’s history had ever documented so many cases of attempted bribery within a single month. The record was logged as “Attempt to Corrupt Marshal on Duty” (ACS) incidents, and Owoeye stood his ground every single time.

The FRSC reiterated its strong stance against bribery and corruption, stressing that the agency would continue to acknowledge and reward officers who uphold the values of honesty and discipline. The recognition not only celebrates Owoeye’s remarkable achievement but also sends a clear message that integrity pays, both in reputation and reward.
