Fresh Horror in Zamfara as 20 Women Kidnapped by Armed Group
Just when it seemed the region might catch a breath, chaos returned with chilling force. A group of women, mostly young girls, vanished while going about a simple task—gathering firewood on the outskirts of Moriki town in Zamfara State.
The disturbing incident unfolded in Zurmi Local Government Area, where locals say at least 20 women were whisked away by an armed group over the weekend. According to a resident familiar with the incident, the women had gone out to collect firewood—a routine chore—when they were suddenly ambushed and taken.
As of now, the abductors have not made any contact with the victims’ families or demanded any ransom, leaving the community in a tense limbo. The state police command has remained silent on the matter, offering no official statement regarding the situation.
This tragic development comes hot on the heels of a recent incident in the same state where 33 kidnap victims were reportedly k!lled by their captors, even after a ransom of $33,700 had been paid. Among the victims in that previous case were three infants, who heartbreakingly did not survive their time in captivity.
The growing insecurity in Zamfara continues to draw national concern, as communities grapple with the terrifying unpredictability of these armed groups.
