Deji Adeyanju Claps Back at Clergyman David Ibiyeomie for Threatening Journalists and Bloggers
Nigerian lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has weighed in on a viral video featuring Port Harcourt-based pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries, who threatened to arrest anyone speaking ill of him or his church.
In the clip making rounds online, Ibiyeomie accused certain bloggers of deliberately twisting his words for their own agendas. He warned that he would not tolerate such misrepresentation and promised to take strict action against anyone who crosses the line. The pastor made it clear that pleas for mercy would fall on deaf ears, insisting that he would deal firmly with offenders.
“My style when I confront people is such that they send others to beg me. So this is your final warning. Next time, there will be no warning. If you dare, I know you and your family. No one will come begging for you. I will handle you,” he declared.
Ibiyeomie went on to say that while some people support him and others oppose him, he is prepared to confront those who oppose him head-on. He warned that if he uses the police to arrest people, no one should complain about a man of God taking such action.
He also expressed disdain for those spreading news about his church, accusing some insiders of twisting his messages to incite others. “My gospel is before you slap, I slap you. I am not that kind of pastor,” he said, warning a young man in particular that he would fight him.
Responding to these comments, Deji Adeyanju pointed out that even Jesus faced criticism without resorting to locking people up, implying that Ibiyeomie’s threats are out of place.
This exchange has sparked conversations about freedom of speech, accountability, and the limits of religious authority in the public sphere.
