Controversial comedian DeeOne recently weighed in on how a low social media presence is hurting the brands of some Nigerian celebrities, including the acclaimed actress Genevieve Nnaji.

He argued that celebrities who keep a mysterious aura and avoid frequent posting tend to fade from social media trends and seldom make headlines.

To illustrate his point, DeeOne compared Genevieve’s online relevance to that of popular TikToker Peller, claiming that Peller currently holds more sway in Nigeria’s digital space.

During a recent episode of Pulse’s Hot Takes podcast, DeeOne remarked, “Genevieve not being active on social media isn’t doing her any favors. When you don’t post regularly, your brand takes a hit. Let me put it this way — anyone who isn’t posting consistently isn’t top of mind.

“What sets her [Genevieve] apart from other actresses? Since when? Since which year? Right now, Peller is more relevant on the Nigerian internet than Genevieve Nnaji.”

DeeOne’s comments highlight the growing importance of social media engagement in maintaining celebrity status in today’s fast-paced online world.
