When gossip starts swirling like a cyclone, it’s only natural for those caught in the storm to speak up—and that’s exactly what Nigerian actress Dayo Amusa did after being falsely named among actors living with HIV. The controversy ignited after content creator Olaoluwa Segun included her in a viral video listing five Nigerian actors supposedly living with the virus.

Dayo wasted no time addressing the rumor on her Instagram, explaining that the video was based on an old post she shared back in 2019. That earlier post was meant as an educational message encouraging people to check their HIV status and not to panic if diagnosed, emphasizing that treatment and hope are available.

Clarifying the misunderstanding, the actress firmly stated that she is HIV negative and expressed her outrage at being falsely linked to the infection without any proper fact-checking. “It’s alarming that someone would take a post from years ago and twist it to falsely accuse me,” she said, warning of legal consequences against the content creator responsible.

Dayo’s stance highlights the dangers of misinformation spreading unchecked on social media, and she vows to hold accountable those who damage reputations with baseless claims. Sometimes, a little truth and clarity are the best antidotes to viral rumors.
