Bauchi Troops Save Kidnap Victim and Take Down Suspect in Mbulu Community
Soldiers from the 33 Artillery Brigade, operating under Operation Lafiyan Jamaa, successfully rescued a kidnap victim and neutralized a suspected abductor during a clearance mission in Mbulu community, Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
The troops acted on a distress call around 6:40 p.m. on June 19, 2025, after receiving reliable intelligence about a kidnapping ring active in the area.
One of the suspects was apprehended at a local market while trying to buy food supplies for his gang.
After initial questioning, the suspect guided the troops to the kidnappers’ hideout, according to a security source.
Upon arrival, the remaining kidnappers opened fire, triggering a swift counterattack.
“During the gunfight, one kidnapper was neutralized while the others escaped into the nearby bush,” the source said.
The troops managed to rescue one kidnapped individual during the operation.
Further search of the hideout led to the recovery of a fabricated AK-47 rifle and a locally made Dane gun.
The rescued victim is currently being debriefed and will soon be reunited with their family, while the hunt for the remaining criminals continues.
