Abia Tragedy: Man, Wife Succumb to Injuries After Setting Home on Fire Following Infidelity Claims
A heartbreaking incident has unfolded in Abia State, where a man, his wife, and their young daughter have all lost their lives following a devastating fire that he allegedly set in a fit of rage over suspected infidelity.
According to the Abia State Police Command, the tragic event occurred in the Asa Umudioka autonomous community within Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area. The police revealed that 40-year-old Udochi Amala allegedly set his home ablaze with himself, his wife, and their 2-year-old daughter inside, after a series of accusations directed at his wife.
The local vigilante group reported the incident to the police on May 16, 2025. They were drawn to the scene by distressing screams and arrived to find the house engulfed in flames. Sadly, their intervention came too late for the couple’s young daughter, who died at the scene.
Officers from the Osisioma Division responded quickly, recovering the child’s body and sending it to the morgue. Mr. Amala and his wife were both critically injured and rushed to the hospital. The man was arrested at the scene and treated under custody.
However, just one day later, on May 17, both Mr. Amala and his wife succumbed to their injuries, despite the efforts of medical staff. The police confirmed their passing, closing a grim chapter in a family torn apart by suspicion and emotional turmoil.
The authorities continue to investigate the incident, which has shocked the local community and underscored the dire consequences of unresolved domestic conflict.
