Nigerian Woman Urges Married Ladies Struggling to Conceive to Explore Other Options
Anthonia Umerah, a Nigerian woman, has stirred conversation by advising married women facing years of infertility to consider trying with another man. She shared this bold viewpoint in a Facebook post on Monday, responding to Ifeyenwa Chybe, who revealed she conceived with another man after a decade of childlessness due to a cheating husband.
Anthonia argued that a woman’s fertile window is limited, unlike men’s, and urged women not to let their husbands’ fertility issues prevent them from becoming mothers. “If you’ve been trying for years without success, sometimes it’s worth trying another preek to see if your luck turns with another amu. Don’t let your husband hold you back from having a child,” she wrote.
She also touched on societal norms, pointing out the double standards about men having affairs, which are often overlooked or normalized. “Men flirt with other women daily, and society accepts it as their entitlement. So, if trying another amu can give you a child, go ahead, sis. Men might not like this advice, but it’s the reality,” she stated.
Anthonia encouraged women to prioritize their own biological clocks and wellbeing, noting that men won’t hesitate to seek other partners if they suspect fertility problems lie with their wives. “Put yourself first. Men always put themselves first,” she concluded.
This candid advice has sparked discussions about marriage, fertility, and societal expectations in Nigeria.
