Popular on-air personality and rapper Nnamdi Nwabasili, popularly known as N6, has boldly declared that Nigeria is already in the midst of a war—though most Nigerians remain blissfully unaware.

His comments come in the wake of the horrific massacre in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, where over 200 people were reportedly killed, sparking outrage across the nation.

N6 insists that the conflict has been ongoing “officially” since 2016, but many people don’t realize it because the violence hasn’t yet touched major cities and state capitals.

In a video shared on his TikTok page, he explained, “Let me tell you something, whether you want to accept it or not. Nigeria is at war; Nigerians just don’t know it yet. People watch so many movies, so they think war is like a football match where both sides face off openly and fight.

“But that’s not always the case. The war began around 2016 or 2017. The problem is that most folks live in Lagos, Abuja, and other capitals, so the war hasn’t reached them. But ask people in rural areas, and they’ll tell you Nigeria is at war. Nigerians are just waiting for someone to officially declare it before they believe it.”

N6’s stark warning highlights the growing insecurity in Nigeria’s rural communities and challenges the nation to confront the reality many have yet to acknowledge.
