17-Year-Old Arrested for Allegedly St@bbing Father’s Mistress to Death in Kwara
The Kwara State Police Command has taken into custody a 17-year-old boy named Malik, accused of fatally st@bbing his father’s mistress, Mrs. Falilat Yusuf, in the Gaa Akanbi area of Ilorin.
The tragic event unfolded around 2 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025, in Danialu, sparking fear among local residents. The victim, affectionately known in the community as Iya Ganiyat, was reportedly st@bbed multiple times in the neck and found lying in a pool of blood inside her home.
State police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed Malik’s arrest on Tuesday, June 17, and noted that quick police action prevented a lynching by enraged locals who caught Malik attempting to flee the scene. “The suspect is currently in our custody, and the investigation is ongoing,” she said.
Witnesses revealed that Malik had been living separately and was banned from visiting the compound due to previous theft accusations and altercations with the victim. Teslim, the victim’s son who discovered his mother’s body, recounted the chilling moment: “I saw Malik near our house making strange hand signs. When I confronted him, he ran away. But when I went inside, I found my mother lying dead in blood. It was shocking.”
He added that Malik returned later after changing clothes but still had bloodstains on his shoes, which led neighbors to detain him and hand him over to the police.
Community members reported that Malik confessed to having conflicts with Mrs. Yusuf, though the exact reasons remain unclear.
Mrs. Falilat Yusuf was laid to rest over the weekend in Ilorin following Islamic burial rites. Her death has deeply saddened relatives, friends, and neighbors, who remember her as a peaceful and hardworking woman.
