Falz Opens Up About Possibly Not Raising His Children in Nigeria
Popular rapper and activist Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, recently shared that he might think twice about raising his children in Nigeria. The ‘This Is Nigeria’ artist pointed to the ongoing security issues, economic struggles, and personal risks linked to his activism as key factors influencing his hesitation.
During a candid chat on the Dear Ife Series Podcast with host Ifedayo Agoro, Falz was asked whether he would choose Nigeria as the place to raise his kids if he had any.
His response was thoughtful and nuanced: “Ah! That’s a deep question. I didn’t expect to hear this. I haven’t really thought that far, let me not lie. But it’s something I can’t just say ‘yes’ to because of what we’re talking about—the insecurity, the threats from my activism, and the general passivity I see in Nigerians.”
He added, “It’s sad, but I also can’t say ‘no’ outright because I’m pro-Nigerian and truly believe we can get things right. But honestly, I don’t know. We’ll see,” he laughed.
Currently single and without children, Falz’s reflections highlight the tough choices many face when considering the future in a country grappling with complex challenges.
