Tragic End: Missing 24-Year-Old Woman Discovered Dead in Bauchi
A search that began with hope has ended in heartbreak for one Bauchi family. The disappearance of 24-year-old Fatima Salihu Mohammed has now taken a grim turn as her body was discovered days after she went missing.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, Fatima was reported missing on September 25, 2025, by her father, 62-year-old Salihu Mohammed Chimo of the Federal Polytechnic Staff Quarters. He explained that his daughter had left home the previous morning, around 10 a.m., to buy groceries at Birshin Fulani but never made it back.
In response, detectives and surveillance teams were immediately deployed, making use of both manpower and technology to trace her whereabouts. Unfortunately, the breakthrough came in the most devastating way—through a distress call from the village head of Birshin Fulani, who relayed shocking news from a local farmer working nearby.
The farmer, Bashar Adamu, was working on his father’s maize farm within the Polytechnic Staff Quarters when he noticed a foul odour. After investigating, he discovered a decomposed female body. Police officers rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area, and confirmed that the remains belonged to Fatima. Her groceries and bag were still beside her.
Her body was transferred to the Federal Polytechnic’s clinic, where a medical practitioner confirmed her death before releasing her remains to the family for burial. The discovery has left her loved ones and the community in mourning, as questions surrounding the circumstances of her death remain unanswered.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has set up a team of homicide detectives to ensure a full, evidence-driven investigation. The command assured the public that every step will be taken to uncover the truth and bring justice for Fatima.
