Rescue operation in Ibadan

Ahmed Olaniyan, a 68-year-old man, found himself in quite the predicament when he fell into a well while attempting to recover his mobile phone in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident took place at Mobolorunduro Mosque in the Molefalafia neighborhood of Oke-Ado, Ibadan. On Sunday, June 8, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Services Agency Reform and Chairman, Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, confirmed the event, explaining that the man ventured into the well without fully understanding the risks involved.

According to Akinwande, a distress call came in precisely at 6:10 a.m. from a Mr. Samuel, reporting that someone had fallen into a well at Mobolorunduro Mosque, located at No. 30 Ajeigbe Street, Molefalafia, Oke-Ado. Firefighters, led by ACFS Adedeji (Mrs), rushed to the scene and discovered the trapped gentleman inside the deep well.

The rescue team acted swiftly, employing all necessary safety measures and knots to secure the operation. Thankfully, Ahmed was rescued alive and handed over to his family for proper care.

The cause of the mishap was attributed to ignorance—entering a well without proper training or awareness of the dangers involved.

Akinwande used the opportunity to urge the public to avoid risky behaviors that could jeopardize their safety. He also highlighted the current administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the state.
